2. Where this Privacy Policy applies

This Privacy Policy applies to websites, apps, events, and other services operated by Saval. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as our "services" in this Privacy Policy. Some services may require their own privacy policy — if a particular service has one, that policy, not this one, applies.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us

• When you create an account, you provide login credentials and basic details necessary for the service to work, such as your gender and date of birth.
• When you complete your profile, you can share additional information, such as your interests and other details about you, as well as content like photos and videos. Some information may be considered sensitive in certain jurisdictions — providing it is your choice, and doing so means you consent to our processing of that information.
• When you subscribe to a paid service or make a purchase directly from us, you or our payment service provider provides financial information such as a debit or credit card number.
• When you participate in surveys, promotions, events, or challenges, we collect the information used to register or enter.
• If you contact our support team, we collect the information you give us during that interaction.
• We process your chats with other users and the content you publish, as part of operating the services.

Information we receive from others

• Other users — who may provide information about you, for instance if they contact us about you.
• Social media — you may use a social login (Facebook, Google, or Apple) to create and log into your Saval account, which shares some information from that account with us.
• Other partners — for example, where Saval ads are shown on a partner platform, they may share campaign performance details with us.

Information collected when you use our services

• Usage information — how you use our services (login times, features used, searches, clicks) and how you interact with other users.
• Device information — hardware/software details (IP address, device ID and type, OS, browser), wireless/mobile network information, and device sensor data (accelerometer, gyroscope, compass).
• Location, photos, and video, with your consent — we only collect precise geolocation, photos, or video when you give us permission to do so.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and web beacons) to recognize you and your devices — for authentication, remembering preferences, analyzing traffic, and measuring advertising. Not all browsers offer a "Do Not Track" option, and DNT signals are not yet standardized; like many businesses, we do not currently respond to DNT signals.

5. How we use information

We use your information to administer your account and provide our services, help you connect with other members, keep your experience consistent across devices, roll out new Saval features, serve relevant offers, improve our services, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal requirements.

Legal bases for processing

• To provide our service to you — performing the contract you have with us.
• Legitimate interests — improving our services, fraud detection, and other administrative purposes.
• Consent — for specific uses we ask permission for; you may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at info@saval.org.

6. How we share information

We share information with other users as you choose to disclose it (including your public profile), with service providers and partners who help us operate the services (under strict confidentiality obligations), in connection with a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, and similar), when required by law, to enforce our legal rights, and with your consent.

7. Cross-border data transfers

Sharing information as described above sometimes involves transfers across borders, including to the United States. Where applicable, we use standard contractual clauses or other suitable safeguards to permit such transfers.

8. Your rights

You can access, update, or delete your information using in-service tools, control device permissions (location, notifications), and delete your account by contacting support. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have rights to review, correct, or request deletion of your information, and to complain to a data protection authority. We may ask for proof of identity before fulfilling certain requests.

9. Residents of California

California residents can request a notice disclosing the categories of personal information we have shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. Submit requests to our support team; please allow 30 days for a response.

10. How we protect your information

We work to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, and regularly review our security practices. As with any technology company, we cannot guarantee your information will always remain secure. If you believe your account or information is no longer secure, contact us immediately.

11. How long we retain your information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by law. To protect the safety of our community, we retain account information for a three-month safety window following account deletion (the account itself is no longer visible during this window). We otherwise delete or anonymize information after account deletion or two years of continuous inactivity, except where we are required to keep it for legal compliance, to evidence compliance, to resolve an outstanding dispute, or for legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention.

12. Health data collection and usage

The Saval app requests access to specific health and fitness data to power its core tracking features. With your explicit consent, we read your exercise session logs, total distance, and active calories burned, and we request permission to write new exercise sessions generated in the app. We access this data through your device's native health data system — Apple Health on iOS, Android Health Connect on Android, or an equivalent native health platform — and the app prompts you for explicit permission for each data type before accessing it.

We use this data strictly to display your fitness progress and power Saval's tracking features. We do not sell your health data, and it is never shared with third-party advertising networks, data brokers, or used for any purpose beyond providing the app's core features. You can revoke Saval's health-data permissions at any time through your device settings or the Health Connect app.

13. Connected fitness services

If you connect a supported fitness platform to Saval — currently Garmin, Strava, Wahoo, Hammerhead, Suunto, or RideWithGPS — we access activity data (workout type, distance, duration, and related metrics) from that platform via its official API, with your explicit authorization. This data is used solely to track your participation and progress in Saval challenges and is not shared with any third party or processed by any third-party AI or analytics service. You may disconnect any platform at any time from within the app, which revokes our access and removes your stored authorization.

14. Children's privacy

Saval accounts are available to individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Participants under 18 may take part in Saval in-person events and activities only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who holds the account and completes registration and any liability waiver on the minor's behalf. If you believe a user is under 18, please use the reporting mechanism available through the service.

15. Privacy Policy changes

This policy may change over time as we improve our services. We will notify you before any material changes take effect so you have time to review them.
